RECRUITMENT
If you’re a Monte Vista High School student and curious about robotics, we’d love to meet you! Join us for a Robotics Club meeting every Wednesday from 3 pm – 6 pm to see what we’re all about. Got questions? Feel free to email us at admin@redtierobotics.org – we’re happy to help!
TEAM OVERVIEW
Here’s a quick look at how Team 1458 is set up! We have five main sub-teams: Design, Electrical, Mechanical, Programming, and Business. Each sub-team plays a key role in helping our team run smoothly and perform at its best. The best part? No prior experience is needed – just bring your enthusiasm, and we’ll help you learn along the way!
DESIGN
At Red Tie Robotics, we take pride in designing and building our robot! Our Design sub-team plays a crucial role in this process by using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to create detailed models of parts and mechanisms. Once finalized, these designs are handed off to the Mechanical Team, who bring them to life. If you’re passionate about engineering, problem-solving, or 3D modeling, this is the perfect place to jump in and get started!
ELECTRICAL
Our Electrical sub-team is the bridge between Mechanical and Programming sub-teams. Team members apply wiring design concepts to wire the robot bases created by Mechanical and ensure everything runs smoothly. They also manage and calibrate all pneumatic systems on the robot. By working on these projects, members gain hands-on experience with advanced electrical engineering, making this sub-team a great place to learn and develop technical skills!
MECHANICAL
The Mechanical sub-team plays a central role in transforming designs into reality! Using the designs created by the Design sub-team, they assemble, fabricate, and refine the robot’s physical components. This sub-team works with tools and machinery to build the robot’s structure, mechanisms, and drive systems, ensuring everything is precise and functional. They collaborate closely with the Electrical and Programming sub-teams to integrate all systems seamlessly. If you’re interested in hands-on building, problem-solving, and turning ideas into reality, the Mechanical sub-team is the perfect place to develop your skills and contribute to the team’s success!
PROGRAMMING
BUSINESS
The Business sub-team manages the team’s non-technical operations and public image, handling sponsor outreach, grant writing, financial tracking, and the yearly business plan. They also maintain the team’s presence through social media, weekly newsletters, website design, promotional materials, and team apparel. Additionally, they seek opportunities for outreach projects, plan for competitions, and overall strategic planning for Team 1458. This sub-team allows students to develop diverse skills, contribute to the team’s success, and prepare for challenges, enhancing both their experience and the team’s impact.
