GIRLS IN STEAM
Girl Scouts Engineering Inspiration
Team 1458 Red Tie Robotics inspires young girls
in STEAM and robotics! We recently hosted an
Elementary grade Junior Scouts’ Troop, giving
them a shop tour and teaching teamwork,
creativity, and problem-solving through fun
activities like building bridges with skewers and
marshmallows. With mentorship from our team,
we’re breaking stereotypes, building confidence,
and showing girls they belong in STEAM. Our
goal? Spark a love for robotics and empower the
next generation of women innovators!
Girl Scouts Robotics Merit Badge
We recently hosted a two-part Robotics Merit Badge workshop for Girl Scouts Troop 126:
Session 1: Learning the Basics of Robotics
Our robotics students delivered an engaging and interactive presentation, covering all the requirements for the Robotics Merit Badge. The scouts were fully immersed, taking detailed notes and participating enthusiastically in a fun Blooket game to wrap up the session.
Session 2: Hands-On Robotics Fun
The second session brought the excitement to life as the scouts got to build, program, and test their own robots! With guidance and mentorship from our Mechanical and Programming sub-teams, the scouts learned how to program their robots to execute simple commands, troubleshoot issues, and even compete in a robot race.
We’re thrilled to announce that 16 scouts earned their Robotics Merit Badge!
Stay tuned for more exciting workshops and events as we continue to inspire the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers!
TESTIMONIAL
“Red Tie Robotics did an amazing job hosting the Scouting America Robotics Merit Badge for Troop 126, a local girls-only troop.
Over 2 days Red Tie Robotics led a group of 15 girls with no experience with robotics to design, build, program and test their own
robot.
On the first day, Red Tie Robotics’ interactive and entertaining presentation taught the girls about the robotics industry, helped
the girls discover different fields of robotics, and explored the available career options in robotics. They tested the knowledge the
girls gained with a fun, interactive game.
On day 2, Red Tie Robotics helped the girls roll up their sleeves and get to work on building, programming, testing, and racing
their own robot through an obstacle course.
From the hollers and laughs, it was plain to see Red Tie Robotics helped the girls of Troop 126 earn the Robotics Merit Badge and
have a great time in the process.”
